I make images of imagined worlds. Each begins as a miniature sculpture assembled from found and fabricated materials. Light, projection, refraction, and macro photography pull the object away from its original scale; the selected image is printed large, then painted by hand with thousands of minute oil marks.

The marks follow, resist, reveal, and conceal the photographic forms. Sculpture remains inside the photograph, the photograph remains beneath the painting, and several realities occupy the same surface.

From a distance, the work appears as atmosphere and field. Up close, physical marks and fragments emerge. That movement between the whole and its smallest parts invites the viewer to consider how much of reality may be held just beneath the visible surface.
